ColbyFarm was established in 1960 by Bill Colby, a 1st generation farmer and Newburyport native. The farm produced hay until 1980. At that time the farm house was built, three hogs were introduced to Colby Farm (2 females & one male) and the farm stand at the end of the driveway on Scotland Road was born. The first farm stand was the bed of a 1959 Chevy
Over the winter of 2011/2012 we built a new farmstand in the field next to the old stand.
Today over 300 acres of hay are cut, 25 acres of vegetables supply the new farm stand.
The next generation, Liz and J.R. Colby, are in the transition phases of taking over the farming operation.
We grow a variety of vegetables. An example of what to expect…
Early season—summer squash , zucchini, lettuce, greens, beets, broccoli, radishes.
